mCube Announces MM8003 Orientation Sensor Module
9-Axis High Performance Sensor Fusion with Wired and Wireless Connectivity
San Jose, CA – November 25, 2019 – mCube, provider of the world’s smallest and lowest power MEMS motion sensors today announced the general availability of the MM8003, a precision 9-axis Orientation Sensor Module (OSM) with wired (USB) and wireless (Bluetooth 5.0) connectivity that provides fused sensor data (Quaternion, Euler Angles, Linear Acceleration, Gravity, Heading) or raw data output using a 3-axis gyroscope, a 3-axis accelerometer, and a 3-axis magnetometer. The high-performance sensor fusion algorithm with build-in Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) can dynamically compensate noise and offset from three motion sensors to provide high accurate orientation measurement for different applications. Both 3-axis accelerometer and gyroscope used in MM8003 are designed and manufactured by mCube.
The MM8003 Toolbox software is available on Github for configuring the device with a PC. In addition to this software mobile apps are available for both iOS (Apple store link here) and Android (Google play link here) devices to communicate with MM8003 through onboard BLE 5.0. Both the desktop and mobile software display real time fusion results and raw sensor data.
The MM8003 can be used in many different applications:
– Navigation, stabilization, and instrumentation
– Robotics, factory automation
– Fitness and medical devices
– Virtual and Augmented reality
The MM8003 Orientation Sensor Module is available for purchase today through Mouser Electronics.
