mCube Named a Winner of the Prestigious UBM Electronics ACE Awards in the Startup of the Year Category
San Jose, CA, April 3, 2012 – mCube, an innovative mobile motion sensor company, today announced it has been named a winner in the EE Times and EDN 2012 UBM Electronics ACE Awards in the Startup of the Year category. The awards program honors the people and companies behind the technologies and products that are changing the world of electronics.
The winners were announced at an awards ceremony on Tuesday, March 27 at The Fairmont San Jose, during DESIGN West, a new UBM Electronics conference and expo building on the rich foundation of training, education and products available at ESC, combined with popular summits and new event launches in one venue for the first time.
“It is gratifying to be recognized for excellence out of a strong group of diverse startup companies,” said Ray Farnham, president and CEO of mCube. “This award validates our unique 3D motion sensor technology, products and partnerships.”
mCube has developed the world’s first fully monolithic 3D silicon MEMS (Micro-Electrical-Mechanical-Systems) motion sensors. By building silicon MEMS structures vertically on top of the drive electronics as an integral part of the CMOS IC fabrication process, mCube is able to achieve single-chip motion sensors with size, cost, performance and multi-sensor integration advantages over current generation technologies.
“It was a challenge for our judges to select one winner in each category from all of the creative and innovative technologies represented by the finalists,” said Junko Yoshida, Editor in Chief, EE Times, UBM Electronics. “The winners have proven that they are pioneers in developing and implementing breakthroughs in electronics. We hope this awards program gives companies worldwide the impetus to stretch their imaginations and their resources for even more progress in the coming year.”
Robert Nalesnik accepts ACE AwardA panel of EE Times editors narrowed down the entries to five finalists in each category, based on the criteria set forth in an online submission form.
