Applications/Systems Engineer

mCube is a technology leader in sensor design, sensor module design and total sensor solutions for the Internet of Moving Things. mCube makes the smallest and lowest power MEMS motion sensors in the world, with over 500 million cumulative sensor units delivered globally.

The Applications Engineer is responsible for customer support, apps notes and EVM development. The Engineer will work cross-functionally with multiple teams including CMOS Design, MEMS Design, Test Engineering, Marketing & Field applications to define, implement and document solutions for customers, write technical papers, develop algorithms and implement them in firmware. A successful candidate has natural curiosity for how MEMS sensors work, is detail-oriented, self-motivated and creative problem-solver.


  • Accountable to drive design wins in target accounts
  • Lead proof of concept, design of solutions and demonstrations to secure product design-ins
  • Interface directly with customers, sales, and channels to promote the products, collect technical feedback to enhance product definition and roadmaps
  • Drive troubleshooting and failure analysis of customer issues to identify root causes, develop and implement solutions and improvements
  • Debug performance & address questions from customers and sales channels
  • Design evaluation boards, demo modules (SCH and layout), algorithms, test and debug
  • Document technical development in apps notes and reference designs
  • Perform research and modeling to drive continuous improvement of MEMS functionality
  • Train FAEs and customers


  • Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, MEMS, Physics or related fields
  • Experience of Application Engineering experience in the semiconductor industry
  • Deep understanding of the functionality and design of electrical circuits and PCBs
  • Experience in algorithm development (Python, C, C++)
  • Firmware development for ARM MCUs and Arduino (C/C++)
  • Hands-on experience with bench testing equipment and test setup (oscilloscopes, Spectrum analyzers, digital probes/interfaces, etc.)
  • Proficient in data collection, data analysis, and signal processing
  • Willing to travel (up to 25%)
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, conduct, and manage tasks of medium scope
  • Strong analytical skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fundamental knowledge of MEMS gyroscope/accelerometer sensors
  • 3+ years’ experience with MEMS sensors or related research
  • Experience in test/characterization of MEMS gyroscope/accelerometer or related physical sensors
  • FPGA programming experience
  • Fluency in LabVIEW
  • Understanding of probability theory, statistical analysis, and statistical software tools
